In November, we were guests at Tritech in Solingen Mercedes Benz to obtain our approval as a listed Mercedes Benz test laboratory.
Hundreds of individual parts and assemblies are installed in a car before it is offered for sale. And all these parts are comprehensively tested and inspected to ensure the safety of technical components or to guarantee the promised appearance of decorative elements.
To ensure that all these countless small and large parts and components from the various suppliers are tested in time for installation in the vehicle, Mercedes Benz qualifies test laboratories worldwide as external partners. At Tritech in Solingen, we have always carried out a wide range of tests for the automotive industry, including, of course, for Mercedes Benz.
Our test portfolio ranges from corrosion and climate tests to testing surface resistance to abrasion and media and adhesion tests. These tests are relevant for both technical and decorative components.
In the area of chassis components, we primarily carry out salt spray tests and corrosion change tests to check whether the coating protects the components from corrosion, especially in the case of safety-relevant components. The relevance of this should be clear to everyone. If a safety-relevant component fails due to corrosion, the damage is significant.
However, the large number of tests to be carried out in the decorative area is also understandable. Rough and cracked coatings due to insufficient adhesion can lead to cuts in extreme cases. As a car owner, you also want to enjoy shiny and beautiful decorative elements for as long as possible. In addition to adhesion tests, we also carry out climate change tests or surface tests with different media in the decorative area, depending on the installation position of the components, which simulate the care or use of gear levers or rotary knobs, for example.
Tests on components and assemblies ensure the quality of the individual components before they are installed in the vehicle and are therefore an important part of driving safety and comfort. This is why our accreditation as a Mercedes Benz test laboratory is a nice and important proof of the quality of our work.
