MATERIAL ANALYTICS IN THE AREA

Fluorspar

Naturally occurring calcium fluoride (CaF₂) is also known as fluorspar. It is mined both in open-pit and underground operations and often occurs alongside other minerals such as barite (barium sulfate), galena (lead sulfide), or quartz.

In industry, calcium fluoride is often referred to as "metallurgical grade fluorspar" and is used as a flux in slags in metallurgical processes.

Fluorspar Analysis

We analyze the overall composition of fluorspar or test it for specific parameters when it is used as a flux:

  • Calcium fluoride digestion

  • Ion Chromatography (IC)

  • X-ray Fluorescence Analysis (XRF)

  • ICP-OES

Complete Fluorspar Analysis

Complete fluorspar analysis typically includes the determination of silicon dioxide, carbon dioxide, aluminum oxide, fluorine compounds, barium, lead, and sulfur, to name just a few elements and compounds.

Fluorspar as an Additive

When fluorspar is used as an additive in steel production, an analysis focused on silicon dioxide, calcium fluoride, calcium carbonate, and sulfur is sufficient.
